Main Window

The main window of Olifant is composed of several areas:

Toolbar

The toolbar at the top of the window provides you with buttons to execute the some of the menu commands. In addition, you can select which language is source and target.

You can show and hide the toolbar by using the command Toolbar in the View menu.

Edit Area

The edit area is made up the Source field at the top (in blue by default), the Target field below the source (in green by default).

In addition all the other fields can be displayed one at the time below the Target field, using the list-box to select which field is shown. This generic edit field can be shown or hidden using the Generic Edit Field command in the View menu (or by pressing F4).

Grid

The grid contains the list of the entries in the current translation memory. If the filter has been set, only the entries matching the filter's criteria are shown.

You can select which column (fields) are displayed in the Fields Settings dialog box (Ctrl+K).

You can switch the location of the grid area and the fields area by using the command Switch Grid Position in the View menu.

Status Bar

The status bar, at the bottom of the window has several indicators. From left to right:

  • The first indicator shows the row number of the current selected entry and the number of entries currently visible in the table.
  • The second indicator shows the total number of entries in the translation memory, including entries that have been deleted but can be restored with the Undo Last TU changes command.
  • The third indicator shows the number of entries corresponding to the filter criteria when the filter is set. If the filter is not active the indicator shows "Filter is OFF".
  • The fourth indicator is used when on you are executing the Swap Target Text command.
  • The remaining right part of the status bar is used for progress messages when a task is being executed.

You can show and hide the status bar by using the command Status Bar in the View menu.
